The III Premonition international film festival held in chelyabinsk closed

On Friday, September 25, Chelyabinsk hosted the closing ceremony of the III Premonition International Film Festival. The event was held in the Russia – My History Multimedia Park.


The ceremony was attended by Deputy head of the Department of social development of the city Sergey Avdeev, Deputy Minister of Culture of the region Irina Anfalova-Shishkina, head of the Department of Culture of the Chelyabinsk City Administration Eleonora Khalikova, Director and President of the Premonition Film festival Sergey Miroshnichenko, writer Alexander Tsipkin, Director Svetlana Muzychenko and other guests.





During the week Chelyabinsk residents saw 13 films: 5 documentaries, 5 feature films and 3 more films were shown as a part of special screenings.


The Pitching of Debutants was held and the jury noted two projects. One of them called Sing! written by Olga Berdnikova (feature film, Novotroitsk) received a prize of 500 thousand rubles from the Presidential Grant Fund as an assistance in production and technical support. The second project called Street Lighting, written and directed by Vladislav Ikonnikov and produced by Pavel Serebrennikov from Moscow (which shootings has already started in Chelyabinsk region) received 500 thousand rubles from the Chelyabinsk City Administration. The project will also receive support during the post-production stage.



The jury chaired by the director of documentary and feature films, Associate Professor of VGIK Svetlana Muzychenko, evaluated the films of the festival in several categories:


The Best film award was given to the Pirate's Soul.


The Obolensky Prize for the best acting was awarded to Konstantin Khabensky for his part in the film Fairy.


The prize for the best special effects went to the film Fairy.


The Audience Choice Award – in this category the winner was chosen by cinema visitors – was awarded to the film Happiness in an Envelope.


The main prize of the film festival, a statue of the "Meteorite", symbolizing the movement forward, was made by Zlatoust masters.


Seven master-classes were held by a producer Anastasia Bezruk, directors Ella Tukhareli, Andrey Ananin, Tatyana Tretyakova and an expert in the field of VR content Georgy Molodtsov. A famous documentary director, Emmy award winner Sergey Miroshnichenko (films Born in the USSR, River of Life. Valentin Rasputin, Rings of the world) held a master class called "Modern documentary cinema". In 2020, due to the epidemiological situation, the number of participants on meetings was limited. All master-classes could be viewed online.


South Ural State University hosted a creative meeting with an actress Ekaterina Shpitsa (films Iron Ivan, Yolki 1914, Yolki 5, The Crimean Bridge. Made With Love! , TV series Polyarny and Realnye Patsany).  


The students and employees of the university saw a VR program (virtual reality). Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant and JSC "Konar"  held special screenings for their employees.


In 2020, Premonition Film Festival was held at three venues: the Znamya Cinema (Kirova St. 112), and the Impulse Film Center (50-letiya VLKSM St. 16) and the Pushkin Cinema (Pushkina St. 64).  Some of the movies were available online.


We recall that the I Premonition International Film Festival was held in Chelyabinsk in 2018. The festival focuses on the usage of new technologies in film production. The films of the festival represent the cinema of the future, filmmakers reflections on what our world can look like, experiments with formats and technologies.
